Sunday Worship with Expository Teaching and Preaching
Madison Chapel believes that everything begins in the pulpit with preaching and teaching. Life is too complex and too convoluted to come to a church on Sunday to hear a man spout an opinion. But if you could hear from the One who made the Universe, who makes every sunrise occur on time every day, would that interest you? We hope so.
Every pastor, teacher, or Elder who teaches at Madison Chapel, believes that the Bible is the Word from this creator, who made everything; and that the teacher/preacher's task is simply to lay before our people what God has said, in as clear and as interesting a fashion as God has enabled him to do so. We will try not to be an entertainment outlet, but a place to grow in wisdom and truth.
Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. Habakuk 3:2

About Our Pastor/Teacher
Our Pastor/Teacher has been a Christian for over 35 years and is a little different than the average pastor. Bill graduated from the US Naval Academy, has over 250 aircraft combat missions, went on to business school for an MBA, and was well on his way to worldly success and riches when God intervened in his life. Bill saw first hand what it means to give up gaining the world and finding the rightful place for the soul.
He went on to buy and run six companies of his own using biblical principles as his guide, before entering the ministry full time. He learned most of the important lessons of theology from Alistair Begg, a Scottish Pastor with a national well-known ministry.
|
Bill has mentored many young men, still serves on several for-profit company boards and is an active Board member of World Magazine, a magazine promoting a godly worldview. He has one son, with three grandchildren in Charlotte and a daughter who is a Christian Psychologist in Dallas, Texas.
Bill has been married for forty-three years to Linda Dawson, of Midland Texas, who holds a BA Degree in Art. As you can well imagine, an artist married to an engineer combat pilot is a recipe for trouble, and Bill and Linda have fought through marriage's challenges with the scars to prove it. But those challenges and scars have prepared them well to help other couples.

Sunday Praise & Worship Schedule
Sunday Morning - 10:30 A.M.
French Broad Baptist Association (in the basement)
Mornings. Since we are a new church, our worship schedule is limited by our facilities. We are grateful to God and to the French Broad Baptist Association for allowing us to rent their facility for a season.
Sunday mornings will be a mix of the old and the new. We will praise God with our voices in singing, honor Him with our prayers, hear from Him by reading the Scriptures; and, often instead of a sermon since we are beginning with a small group, we will have interactive teaching.

If you are after production or entertainment, you will go away disappointed. Our focus is to make much of God and to do that we want to make little of ourselves. We hope there will be many who want to join us in making much of God!
If you simply want a place to come on Sundays and go away feeling good, we cannot promise you that every week. There will certainly be weeks where we hope that that will happen. But, the Word of God often challenges us, makes us feel appropriately guilty, and sometimes even makes us downright angry.
We can promise you this: each week Sundays we will try to challenge each other with the Truth of God's Word, and that Truth has amazing power to change men and women's lives. Those changes may not always be comfortable, but they are always for our long term good.
I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave. Psalm 86:12-13

Honestly Connecting with the Lord
We do not encourage you to join us based on an emotional high stemming from one service or one good experience. We want every potential member to have time to do the following before joining.
- Discover who we are, what we believe, and what we preach (to this end we offer a new members class which covers these issues);
- Pray about your membership and weigh the decision carefully, using your intellect and your emotions; then,
- Commit if God leads you here, with the intention of becoming an active growing member.
We do not say these things to frighten folks off, or to give an indication that this church is an exclusive sort of club, but we do this because our love for Christ and His glory compels us to be diligent in comprising the Church of Jesus Christ in Madison Chapel. Please visit the Membership page for more information about member expectations. It is Jesus Christ's church and, as such, deserves our best efforts.
And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:22-23
