Our Missions

Our Focus on Missions

Missions begin with our thinking and missions begin at home, here in Western North Carolina. Our mission is to spread the Word of God so that others may taste and see that He is good. We do so by seeing, hearing, feeling, and serving.

Seeing: We want to see unbelieving people become committed followers of Jesus Christ.
Hearing: We want to hear the Word of God preached and taught passionately, accurately, and deeply.
Feeling: We want to feel the love and warmth of Christ through genuine intimate Christian fellowship and love.
Serving: We want to serve Christ with every moment and resource of every day that we live.

Our Hope

  • To hear about a magnificent God who has a message that is timeless and has changed the world.
  • To hear about the most important decision we will face in our lives and obtain authoritative answers as to how to deal with that question.
  • To worship the true God with others seeking to glorify Him with genuine godly worship.
  • To grow in wisdom and knowledge of who God is, what He has done, and how we are to relate to Him and use that knowledge to bring glory to His name.
  • To provide for each attendee an opportunity to explore whether or not this church is the best place to grow and contribute to God's glory and His Kingdom.

How we put feet to our thinking

  • We set aside 10 percent of all giving in a year for world missions. This amount will be the amount budgeted in the next year, to go to our designated mission's focus. In this way, we will always meet our missions budget, and mission agencies can depend on what we budget.
  • We set aside another 10 percent of all giving for missions and outreach in our local area. This amount will be budgeted in the next year by the Elders, for local outreach efforts.
  • We believe, since we are small, we should focus our efforts in a few places and should partner with only agencies that have integrity, longevity, experience, and impeccable accountability for our giving.
  • Because of this, our initial focus in World Missions will be with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Chuch and the Uganda Baptist Seminary in Jinja, Uganda, a seminary that our pastor has taught in and with which he has credible experience.
